Kohen did turn 1! {Blog Nesting Day 2}

Alright, for Day 2, I figured it would be best to start with the thing I've put off the longest and finally blog about Kohen's 1st Birthday!

When I started planning his party I couldn't for the life of me pick a theme to do... I remember it being so easy with the other boys. Tristan had a Veggie Tales themed party because already by age 1 he loved VT. So much so, his third word was "Bob". Seriously. For Peyton we always called him Chunky Monkey... So, it was obvious, we did a Monkey themed party. But when I started thinking about what to do for Kohen, I had a hard time at first. Then, it hit me! The kid loves balls! So we did a Sports themed party! Here are the Highlights:

I ordered the cake through my cousin Kari, her friend made the cake. Isn't it adorable??

The lady actually ended up GIVING us the cake and not charging us a penny for it! She said the whole time she was making it, God was telling her she needed to just be a blessing to us. It was a blessing, and a very delicious one at that!

Ballpark Food

If you haven't already noticed... I really enjoyed incorporating the theme throughout the party :)

David (my brother in law) made this sign for parking

Brandon had just thanked everyone for coming and asked God to bless the food so we could dig in!

Sweet Cousins

We asked everyone to wear their favorite sports team colors!

Cake time!

As you can see, Kohen was less than impressed with the cake. It was delicious, trust my words... Not my son's face.

Presents!

He was so sweet opening each one

I put this picture in here just to prove that I was, in fact, at Kohen's party. I was behind the camera most of the time and this is the ONE picture I made it into! Ha! But as you can see... I was there. Sporting the Rangers all the way!

He enjoyed opening presents... But he LOVED playing with and opening his cards!
Who knew something so simple would make a 1 year old so happy??

The big kids enjoyed the bounce house!

Cracker Jack for party favors with a note attached that said:
Thanks for attending Game 1 of Kohen's Birthday Series!

Here is the Birthday Boy after it was all said and done!
We had a great time celebrating our sweet Kohen with family and friends. Who wouldn't want to celebrate this sweet face coming into the world??

Kohen-dini

Just a couple of weeks ago our sweet little Kohen mastered his escape out of his crib. He mastered his escape but hadn't quite mastered his landing. He got to where he could get over the railing within seconds of us walking out of the boys room. In a 24 hour time span (which included one naptime and one bedtime) he scraped his chin, neck, elbow, head and got a few other bumps along the way.

It was apparent we had to take some action before he seriously injured himself. So, we decided it was time to break down the crib and get the ever famous (in the Davis house anyway) Lightning McQueen Cars bed out of storage. Which is perfect for him because this kid LOVES cars!

This little boy is now sleeping in a big boy bed!
(you can actually see the scratch on his little chin in this one)

As you can see, Kohen was thrilled about his new bed!

The bigger boys were also excited about the new addition to their room.

Showing off their cars. Aren't they too cute in their Cars pj's?!

(Um... and for the record, this momma is having a hard time believing
that this little boy isn't a baby anymore!)

A little wrestling match before bedtime. Typical.

Also a part of our bedtime routine: Reading out of the Jesus Story Book Bible

And here is the little man, sleeping in his big boy bed.

He woke up the next morning a bit earlier than usual and as soon as he woke up he was talking all about his new bed! "McQueen mumble mumble Cars mumble mumble Bed mumble mumble...!" It was super cute, I have to say.

Overall,  the move from the crib to the toddler bed has been good. It seems all we're doing is making a little more room for the next little man to join all of this craziness! Only a little over 10 weeks left! A babymama update coming soon...

This little boy is growing growing growing! I can't believe how time flies more and more with each child. He is 3 months old. 3 months old!

We went to the Dr this past week for his 2 month well visit and shots (didn't get in sooner because of insurance mumbo jumbo). He got a clean bill of health! When the Dr walked in I was feeding Kohen (under my nursing cover) and so he looked over Tristan who was there to follow up on an ear infection we have been fighting (it was still infected and we are working on the 3rd round of antibiotics in 6 weeks). When I finished feeding Kohen and sat him up, The Dr saw how big he was and said "I guess you haven't had any trouble with nursing... " Haha! He kept saying, "Man, he is a big boy!"

I took this pic when we got home from the Dr. This is one of my favorite outfits on him!

He weighed 15 lbs and 12 oz (in the 95%) and was 26 in long (in the 97%). A big boy for sure!

His little personality is also growing and developing. He is liking tummy time more and more (something he HATED at first). One of his favorite toys is a deer rattle that can clip on his carseat or any other place we prop him, he coos and smiles at it like it's his little buddy. It is sweet to watch him! Of course his favorite toys are his big brothers. He spends a lot of time trying to stay focused on them as they zip by!

Another new developement... He is losing his beautiful brown hair! His Full head of hair is now resembling the head of a 50 year old man. Sigh. It will probably all come back blonde like his brothers. Even though I am sad that it probably won't be brown anymore I am thankful that unlike the 50 year old man, it WILL grow back!

That is my short update on KoKo. More on the big boys soon... Hopefully.

A New Normal.

Well, I am finally blogging again. It is not only hard to find time to sit and blog... it has been hard to gather my thoughts long enough to get them out! Here are some recent pictures of all the boys.

The big boys just can't seem to get enough of our newest addition...

He still gets lot of hugs and kisses. Whether he likes it or not.

So what's been going on in the Davis home lately? Well, a lot of these are being changed and washed...

And no, that's not all thats been going on. Although I do feel that way some days.

We are adjusting to Kohen being a part of the family and our daily routine. It gets easier and more "normal" every day. A new normal I guess. The big boys go about their business most of the time. They check on Kohen on and off during their many adventures. Making sure he's still in his glider or bouncy seat. I assure them he's not going anywhere but they still like to check on him.

One of their favorite games...

They love to hide! And our suitcases have made excellent hiding spots as of late. Thanks to Daddy moving the suitcases into their closet instead of ours, this gets to be a happy game where spankings are not involved.

Kohen does this a lot... Isn't he just beautiful?! (Sigh.)

He also wakes up and hangs out too. In the last week he has started "talking" (as we call it) with his eyes and whole face. At times it seems he's going to burst out with words and then... he doesn't. Not yet anyway. He smiles and coos though and it is too sweet!

A couple of weeks ago we went to visit family and attend Brandon's sister's wedding. That weekend while we were gone, it snowed here in Beaumont! Seriously! This is the second year in a row! And even though we missed out on the Beaumont snow, we did get to see some flurries where we were.

The big boys had a blast in the "snow". You can barely see it in the pictures but it was actually snowing on us. Just the usual Texas "snow" that melts before it hits the ground. We had heard from the weather man that we could see 2-3 inches of snow that afternoon and so I told the boys that maybe after nap time there would be more snow to play in. Well, I should have kept my mouth shut on that one! The first thing T did when he woke up was go to the window to look for the snow. "Mommy, (big sigh) there's no snow." It was sad. But he got over it within a matter of seconds with Aunt JooJoo (B's littlest sis) there to distract him. I praise God for Aunts!

I didn't get many pictures at the wedding because my batteries died shortly after we got there and before the ceremony even started! But here are a few I did get...

3 of my handsome men! As you can see by the look on Pey's face, the wedding was right about nap time.

Man, I have a good looking husband!

Kohen spent almost the entire afternoon/evening tucked away in my sling. He made it out for a couple pictures and was held by very few people. After all, he was 3 weeks old that day! He liked his cozy spot...

Well. I am going to wrap this post up and head to bed! Maybe I will get around to blogging again sooner rather than later. Hmm... I guess we'll see.
